Description

A superb example of siderite cast after calcite from the aggeneys mine, the 7cm+ specimen features superior color with a fine aesthetic build-up. The piece displays really well due to the striking single cast positioned elegantly across the upper edge of the sulfide floater matrix.

The luster is splendid and has a chattoyant feature to it brought about by the scaly textured surface, every scale is precisely orientated in alignment with the next on every individual crystal face like those of a lizard allow you to run your finger over it in one direction only, the reverse direction inhibits this movement gripping your finger tightly.

The color is extraordinary compared to the usual golden varieties featuring a dark burgundy to purple instead. The definition of the former calcite crystals that dissolved away beneath the siderite coating is still sharp and recognizable exhibiting broad faces and termination ends, the calcites must have been breathtakingly beautiful to see.

This specimen is damage free, an added bonus is the small opening on the under side of the cast where you can see into the cavity right across to the other end.
