Description

This is a fine example of a rare combination of minerals for tsumeb the likes of which I have not seen before, it consists of generous amounts of each mineral with interesting localized associations and relationships across the matrix. The red octahedral cuprite are exemplary and have a fine silver metallic luster on surface and allow maximum light penetration which illuminates them impressively making them glow a rich red as the finest specimens should.

Evidently the cuprite mineralized first and are attached directly to and have grown within the matrix nearer the top where the finest cuprite features gem qualities.  The largest cuprite crystal positioned in the very top end of the matrix measures more than 1cm yet the finest form is seen in the smaller crystals that are elevated high up off the matrix surrounded by cuprian smithsonite.

The cuprian smithsonite was a later mineralization followed by the isolated yellow adamite that are scattered on top of it.

The color combination and contrast is eye catching to say the least.
