Description

In 2014 a discovery of rare churchite-Y was made at the skorpion mine which yielded a limited quantity of useable specimens were found and no subsequent finds have been made since. The discovery was largely unheard of but it has since been recognized as the finest churchite ever produced in the world. This large matrix hosts a rich calcite covering over black romanechite which in turn hosts some well defined spheroidal- acicular sprays of the rare mineral.

In addition the remaining sides of the matrix have mineralized patches of churchite that has not crystallized into the classic form but is visible as flattened out sprays instead. The unique combination of churchite crystal forms makes this an exemplary specimen.
