Description

I have had this very unique anglesite specimen for quite a time and have been busy investigating same but have come empty handed since there is just nothing like it to be found to relate to, it came in a tsumeb collection described as anglesite along with one other similar piece.

The prominent 4.5cm prismatic crystal is symmetrical for the full extent of its length and rectangular exhibiting opposing broad and narrow vertical sides. One end is terminated and the other displays a connective contact where it was attached to the host rock. What confirms that this crystal is not cleaved off part of a larger anglesite crystal is that there is more than one smaller crystal growing off it near the base and each of those is complete too exhibiting the very same sharp features, the likeness is recognizable and undeniable. What is strange is the shift in orientation between the main crystal and the small ones.

The surface is very textured yet lustrous and completely transparent to the extent that you can see right through. The condition is superb with the slightest imperfections limited to some teeny flea bites along the edges.
