Description

This terrific red phantom cluster comes from Heini Soltau, the man that popularized the Namibian orange river quartzes during the early 2000’s. The unique phased mineralization is evident in this fine cluster which tells the story of how the phantoms were formed. The large main crystal has three internal phantoms beneath its termination, the first lies deep within it half way down from the termination hidden behind the dark red colors to be seen only when well illuminated from above or behind.

The second is the dark amethyst phantom that is lies just 1cm beneath the termination, dark and saturated in color but it too needs good lighting to be seen. The red phantom was created by the final activation of the quartz mineralization positioned within the water clear  quartz layer, most impressive since the quartz selectively coated only the termination fully.

The placement of the final quartz coating is unfathomable since it ends in perfect alignment in the vertical sides parallel with the termination face beginnings. What caused this precise halting of the quartz covering, some higher programming??

The main crystal is pristine, the specimen has some minor contact and has been trimmed at the back.
