Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Ruggles Mine, Grafton, Grafton County, New Hampshire, United States of America
Size Range:
Museum (18cm plus)
Size:
18 × 10.5 × 5 cm
Description

This large outstanding specimen was in the Cincinnati Museum of Natural History.

It has several dendritic sprays of uraninite. Some of the uraninite is in various stages of psuedomorphing to “gummite”, which is actually a mix of uranophane, becquerelite and autunite.

The color of these psuedomorphs is superb! The base of this specimen has been sawed so it sits perfectly for display. The sawed surface also revealed more examples of the classic uranium minerals.

Parts of this large specimen are highly fluorescent!
