Description

EDS conf. find no 19-11-08-bol96 hosting bronze-grey metallic canfieldite (partially substitued by some Ge) on siderite and pyrargyrite. Other minerals in the assemblage are argentopyrite (EDS conf.) and argyrodite (EDS conf.). Some crystals appear to be composed of argyrodite and canfieldite (see EDS result). Canfieldite can be easily overlooked due to peak overlap of Ag and Sn. Analytical results might look like a conclusive acanthite then. Acanthite is ductile, whereas the argyrodite-canfieldite group has brittle cleavage characteristic. Left part of the BSE picture shows argyrodite, right part canfieldite.
