Description

Numerous salmon pink glossy harmotome-philippsite series balls inside a vug. The rocky matrix is an altered basalt, featuring many vesicles filled with calcite, celadonite and saponite. That volcanic rock erupted some 40 million years ago, forming the Lessini mounts near Vicenza. The zeolite here crystallized in a temperature range of 50-100°C, in the million years following the basalt emplacement.

The specimen is glued on a base displaying "Philippsite - Italy" in french language, but notice it is most probably harmotome–phillipsite(-Ca) since the two species are closely related.

(The weight includes the wooden base, measurements does not.)
