Description

Transparent and lustrous natural nodule of Mexican Fire Opal. Body colour is a light bright orange with internal colour flashes. A rare specimen in this size and quality.When the rough stones are found, many fire opals are covered in a chalky white weathering crust, a sign that the stone has aged through loss of water and become cloudy and cracked. Whether and to what extent a fire opal is susceptible to this ageing process is not only dependent on how it is handled, but also has to do with its origin. Play of colour, body colour and transparency are the three criteria which determine the price of a fire opal. The more transparency and 'fire' it has, and the more intense the deep red of its body colour, the more valuable it will be. The rarest, and thus the most highly esteemed, is the intense red-orange fire opal from Mexico with its strong play of colour. The Mayas called it Quetzalitzlipyollitli, the 'stone of the bird of paradise'.

We ship international priority registered mail with tracking number. German Postal Services up to a value of 1000 Euro and a weight of  2 Kg. International Flat rate is 10 Euro up to 500grams - 16 Euro up to 1000grams  and 26 Euro up to 2000grams. Insurance is included in the price up to a value of 40 Euro. Higher value insurance  costs 2 Euro for every 100.  For larger parcels up to 31.5 Kg and higher value we use DHL. Prices with DHL vary according to destination and weight. In case of loss or theft the  insurance pays full amount and takes between 30 and 60 days. Internation priority mail from Germany normally takes  between 7 and 10 working days to reach the destination.
