Fluorite & Pyrite

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
De'an Mine, Wushan, Jiangxi Province, China (Peoples Republic)
Size Range:
Cabinet (10-18 cm)
Size:
4.5 × 10.2 × 8.4 cm
Largest Crystal:
1.90cm
Description

Although the modified fluorite cubes that cover much of both sides of this piece are in very good rather than perfect condition, it is the internal colouration that appeals - this being purple and yellow. The yellow colour may be due to iron staining. It is difficult to be certain because of the slightly frosted nature of the cube faces and bevelled edges

There are also several groups of bright pyrite and the matrix is covered, between the fluorite cubes, with milky quartz crystals to 11mm. The fluorite cubes reach 19mm on edge

This is a very attractive and slightly unusual Chinese fluorite specimen
