Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Southern Operations Mine, Broken Hill, Yancowinna County, New South Wales, Australia
Size Range:
Cabinet (10-18 cm)
Size:
14.5 × 11.5 × 5.3 cm
Description

A superb calcite specimen from this remarkable deposit. This piece features rounded masses of greyish micro 'dog-tooth' crystals forming on and around groups of bright brassy pyrite crystals. There seems to be a second generation of calcite that give them a white appearance.

On the reverse side, typical layering occurs with a pale pink crystalline calcite occurring as the thickest layer. Incredibly this specimen is in pristine condition with no damage anywhere I can see. It will display well laying flat or standing upright. Weight of specimen is 921 grams
