Bustamite With Hedenbergite & Sphalerite

Classic Locality

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
North Mine, Broken Hill, Yancowinna County, New South Wales, Australia
Size Range:
Small cabinet (7-10 cm)
Size:
9.5 × 5.5 × 4.2 cm
Description

This specimen features the famous "hairy" or fibrous bustamite that is highly sought after from Broken Hill. This is by no means the best example of this form, but it is mineralogically interesting because of the mineral assemblage.

Along with the bustamite, blocky green crystals of hedenberite occur with tarnished black massive sphalerite in a matrix of massive fluorapophyllite.
