Anglesite On Coronadite

Classic Locality

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Block 14 Opencut, Broken Hill, Yancowinna County, New South Wales, Australia
Size Range:
Cabinet (10-18 cm)
Size:
10 × 6.8 × 2.7 cm
Description

A nice cabinet specimen displaying milky white anglesite crystals to 4 mm scattered over a dark background of coronadite, appearing in both stalactitic and crystalline form. The anglesite crystals show many variations of crystal shape. There is some minor scuffing and chipping to some of these, but only apparent  when viewed through a microscope or loupe.

There is also an unidentified white mineral lining cavities in the matrix both on the display side and the base. My opinion is that this is hydrozincite, but I cannot confirm this.
