Malachite Psm Cuprite With Anglesite

Classic Locality

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Block 14 Opencut, Broken Hill, Yancowinna County, New South Wales, Australia
Size Range:
Small cabinet (7-10 cm)
Size:
9 × 7 × 3 cm
Description

A mineralogically interesting piece. Malachite has formed a rough coating over octahedral cuprite crystals, some of which have been exposed, on the surface of the matrix which containd quite a lot of masive galena. Very sharp textbook shaped micro crystals of white anglesite almost covers the remaining surface.

Additional minerals to be found include micro crystals of hemimorphite, aurichalcite, green smithsonite and there is also some massive azurite and chrysocolla, probably also in a pseudomorphous role.
