Chalcocite

Classic Locality

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Flambeau Mine, Ladysmith, Rusk County, Wisconsin, United States of America
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
6 × 4.3 × 2 cm
Description

From one of the best contemporary localities for chalcocite comes this interesting piece. It features a crust of massive chalcocite that gives rise to rounded botryoidal forms on a matrix that includes small white calcite rhombs. There is what seems to be a shrinkage crack on the surface of the chalcocite but it appears solid and certainly does not go through the whole specimen. So be assured it is quite solid.

The locality is defunct and specimens will inevitably become scarcer as time goes on. Comes with a previous Dan Weinrich label
