Stellerite & Quartz

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Garrawilla Station, Pottinger County, New South Wales, Australia
Size Range:
Cabinet (10-18 cm)
Size:
12.5 × 7.8 × 6.5 cm
Description

A splendid large specimen of Stellerite from this well known and loved Australian location. This volcanic region is home to a range of zeolite species which at times form very large crystals in the vughs.

Unfortunately collecting has been halted by the station owners for many years now and no new material has been seen. This specimen displays beautifully with it's delicate orange coloured stellarite crystals broken by groups and druses of clear quartz crystals. There is no damage of any note apart from where it has been broken away from the vugh, where radiating sheaves of crystals can be seen.
