Great Australia Mine, Cloncurry, Cloncurry Shire, Queensland, Australia
Size Range:
Small miniature (3-4.5 cm)
Size:
4 × 3.8 × 2.3 cm
Description

This rather rare copper chloride occurs as clear patches in massive cuprite that begin to oxidise rapidly upon exposure to the air and a film of green verdigris forms in a matter of hours. Some malachite also occurs as thin seams through the attached matrix.

This mine is noted for many fine oxidised copper minerals including brochantite, cuprite and the type locality for cloncurryite.
