Description

An unusually large cabinet specimen of the rare phosphate mineral kingite - Al3(OH)3(PO4)2(.9H2O)  - forming a white chalky cauliflower like mass, presumably due to weathering. At one end the true nature of the mineral can be seen as a white structureless chalk like material.

This mineral was identified as a new species from this locality in 1956 and named after South Australian Goverment Geologist, D.King. It is known from only a few other scattered world localities. It's difficult to obtain kingite specimens in this size.
