Glendalough Mine, Glendalough, County Wicklow, Irish Republic (Eire)

Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
5.5 × 4.9 × 2.9 cm
Description

A very scarce deep green pyromorphite on quartz matrix from this small but historically significant Irish mine, Situated at the head of a beautifull valley, these mines produced significant quantities of lead from narrow lodes from the late 1700's. This specimen was collected from dump material in 1999.

The crystals are small hexagonal prisms with flat terminations to approx 1 mm. While many are damaged, the scarcity more than compensates as a locality specimen.
