Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
4.8 × 4.1 × 3 cm
Description

Massive bright orange minium occurs within a friable quartz and cerussite rich matrix. The minium has completely replaced micro  cerussite crystals which form various habits such as V twins and reticulated.

The formation of minium at Broken Hill  could well be the result of mine fires which burned underground for several years in sealed of sections of the mines in the early days.
