Classic Locality

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Whim Creek Mine, Pilbara, Western Australia, Australia
Size Range:
Small cabinet (7-10 cm)
Size:
8 × 6 × 5 cm
Largest Crystal:
1.50cm
Description

Whim Creek is famous for these type pieces. Harder to get decent cabinet specimens now without paying a fortune. This on is modestly attractive and features rosettes of former azurite crystals that have been completely replaced by malachite and then frosted with calcite.

There is a spattering of micro wulfenite crystals and to add extra mineralogical interest, these form in two different crystal habits. There is some damage to the one crystal group at the very top of the specimen but overall the specimen is in great condition.
