Description
Locality:
Preamimma Mine, Callington, Mount Lofty Ranges, South Australia, Australia
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
5 × 2.8 × 2.6 cm
Description

Small microcrystals of aqua blue lavendulan -  NaCaCu5(AsO4)4Cl•5(H2O) form across the top of this specimen in a quartz rich matrix. Very good specimen for this old 1840s era copper mine.

Although originally named after the colour of the "type" specimen, it was later determined to be a mixture with no relationship to modern lavendulan (Ondruš et al., 2006). Lavendulan does not exhibit a lavender colour.
