Cobaltaustinite Talmessite Spherocobaltite Erythrite

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Aghbar Mine, Aghbar, Zagora Province, Drâa-Tafilalet Region, Morocco
Size Range:
Small miniature (3-4.5 cm)
Size:
4 × 4 × 1 cm
Description

A dream under the microscope... 2x2 cm of this specimen is just beautifully covered in a carpet of cobaltaustinite crystals. Inbetween are talmessite crystals and some micro spherocobaltite crystals. You can see clearly that the talmessite crystals are zoned. Lapis jan.2002 writes about this zoning. The center of the crystals is cobalt-poor, where the borders are cobalt-rich talmessite and beta-roselite. I will send the buyer a copy of that article on request. The contrast of the pink erythrite with the green cobaltaustinite is also beautiful. Found by seller in november 2009. I have 6 more detailed photos on request.

High resolution mineral images (tiff 75 MB), for use in articles or to print A3 for your wall, will be provided as download on request.
