Description

Calcite crystal group with crude dolomite from Pit L-30 at the open pit Pb/Zn mine at Pine Point. Natural luster.

The mine is located on the south shore of Great Slave Lake. There are about 45 pits and a few undergound workings. The ground water table is high so some pits are filled to ground level, some with one or two benches above water and the odd shallow dry one. The pits are numbered based on a local grid. Closed in 1988.
