Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Tsumeb Mine, Otavi Highlands, Namibia
Size Range:
Micromount (under 1cm)
Size:
0.3 × 0.3 × 0.2 cm
Description

Nice blue crystals of extremely rare stranskiite, a Zn-Cu arsenate, associated to small colorless prismatic schultenite (fifth photo). Two type localities in one specimen !. Stranskiite was found in 1957 in the 30th level of the mine with only one specimen known for a long time (almost 40 years !).

Since this auctioned specimen also comes from the 30th level (as demonstrated by the Excalibur Mineral Company label enclosed, that will be sent to the buyer) is possible that is specimen be a small part of the type specimen !!. The mineral was labeled as RRR (extremely rare, single occurrence with less than 10 specimens known) in Gebhard 1999 Tsumeb II book.
