Donald Stockton Collection
Floater

Red River Floodway, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
Class:
Crystal Group/Cluster
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
5.3 × 5.3 × 5.3 cm
Largest Crystal:
1.70cm
Weight:
117.00gr
Description

Sharp, golden coloured fishtail-twinned crystals of gypsum sitting on a sphere of bladed intergrown gypsum crystals.
These specimens formed in sediment and are true floaters with no points of attachment.
Highly fluorescent as can be seen in the picture.
Please note that the label only lists this as from Canada, but I'm very confident that its from the Red River Floodway, so have listed it as such, as this is the only well-known locality where these specimens are from, and are a real Canadian classic.

Damage report:  There are a few minor nicks on some of the gypsum blades and some very tiny nibbles on the larger fishtail-twins, but no major damage and overall condition is good.

Ex. Donald Stockton (1929 - 2016) Collection, with Don's own label.
