Description

A super example of this very rare zeolite mineral personally collected by Rudy Tschernich, who first discovered the mineral and after whom it is named.

Basalt matrix has an amygdale containing a large number of large, well formed tschernichite crystals associated with colourless analcime crystals with unusual golden cores.

The specimen was part of an exchange in 1990 with the late Irish zeolite collector, Harry J Foy. Harry and Rudy exchanged correspondence over a number of years as both were responsible for discovering new zeolite mineral species (Harry found the first specimens of the minerals subsequently named as garronite and gobbisite).

A fine locality example of this rare species with superb provenance.
