Description

A lovely example of yellow/green micro crystalline smithsonite on matrix from a seldom offered locality which is part of the Alston Moor complex of mines. The colour may be due to the presence of trace amounts of cadmium in the smithsonite structure. By way of interest the Mindat page for the locality includes a fascinating account of a trip into the mine in February 1818 by a group of 'gentlemen'! LC
