Description

Tondiite (IMA 2013-077) is a brand new mineral with the formula Cu3MgCl2(OH) first found at Vesuvius volcano, Italy. It is the Mg analogue of herbertsmithite, gillardite and leverettite.

This very rare mineral was recently found at Santo Domingo Mine in Chile and has been confirmed by Prof. J. Schlüter, Hamburg.

Tondiite is extremely rare in Chile and only a very few specimen came out so far.

Tondiite shows lustrous and gemmy, intensive green microcrystals on matrix.

Very rich specimen!
