Description

This incredible specimen reveals its secret when turned around: it's almost 100% quartz - rock crystal - but the impressions in the back show clearly it once covered calcite scalenohedrons which dissolved naturally. So, the whole specimen is hollow (therefore the low weight for the size!) - an epimorph resp. perimorph. Upon closer inspection I discovered that the 'dirt spots' are in fact very tiny botryoidal aggregates, sphärosiderite surely.

The minor damage is limited to the outer corners of the specimen and hardly visible.
