Description

White acicular natrolite on dark honey-brown calcite crystals in a hollow twig of fossil wood replaced by natrolite. This very interesting and unique also shows several completely filled twigs - a rarity of this find. I don't think I have seen another one like this. The calcite is much brighter and better in nature.

The Sipi Caves are the only locality known of with fossil wood  replaced by natrolite.

The caves have a volcanic origin (pyroclastic stream?). Last described by Udluft (1929) and Holms (British Museum 1937).Was brought to Europe from a scientific excursion. It's strictly forbidden to take anything out of Mount Elgon area for 'normal' collectors because it's a national park.
