Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Bühl, Weimar, Ahnatal, Kassel Region, Hesse, Germany
Class:
Combination
Size Range:
Small cabinet (7-10 cm)
Size:
7.1 × 5.5 × 0.3 cm
Description

One of the very rare finds of terrestrial native iron. There is more native iron in meteorites. This is a cut slab from a historical find from 1917 - together with the also (terrestrial) rare iron carbide cohenite.

Unfortunately the slab was broken. You'll receive both parts pictured.

According to Belendorff it also includes troilite. But this is not listed anywhere.

The locality was an ancient quarry, mined until 1925, when it was flooded. Since then it is a natural swimming pond.
