Siderite On Dolomite Psm Calcite

Ex Technische Universität Freiberg, Sachsen
Pseudomorph

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Niederschlema, Bad Schlema, Erzgebirge, Saxony, Germany
Size Range:
Cabinet (10-18 cm)
Size:
12.3 × 12.9 × 5 cm
Description

A large plate of dolomite pseudomorph after calcite crystals up to 2.0 cm (not shown in pictures), covered with siderite crystals up to 0.5 cm and hollow platy calcite crystals of the same size ("window calcite"? - also pseudomorphs?).

The old historical label says there's also chalcopyrite present - which I don't see. But there are certainly hematite inclusions in the siderite and hematite is also present in the form of fine reddish crystals - the so-called "eisenrahm".

A very fine specimen.
