Fluorite & Goethite On Quartz

Classic Locality

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Juchem Quarry, Niederwörresbach, Herrstein, Birkenfeld, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany
Class:
Combination
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
6.5 × 6 × 5 cm
Description

The rarest and most sought after German fluorite:: emerald-green octahedrons with black botryoidal goethite on quartz crystals in a vug with minor calcite. More than 30 years ago a few specimen were found. Nothing more since last year when some handful of new pieces appeared, that were instantly sucked up by local collectors. Usually whoever gets one of those specimen will never resell. I was lucky to get a few.

The crystals don't get much bigger than on this specimen (about 0.4 cm I reckon).
