Description

The Grand View mine is a long forgotten locality, closed for production in 1916. Last owner was William Randolph Hearst. Now it's a nature reserve for rare bats. The mineralization is secondary copper minerals.

Dark green brochantite crystals on malachite with light blue, acicular cyanotrichite and dark blue azurite crystals. In one corner yellow-orange philipsbornite.

The problem with the locality is, there are many different similar copper minerals. The light blue species could be also carbonatecyanotrichite, parnauite or chalcoalumite and there is also dark blue osarizawaite. Detailed analysis might bring up some surprises.

Some waterclear gypsum on top.

Comes with an old, stamped 'Grand Canyon' label.
