Description

Terrestrial native iron is very rare. You can find more native iron in meteorites. This is a cut slab from one of the rarest finds ever - together with the also (terrestrial) rare iron carbide cohenite.

The locality was an ancient quarry, mined until 1925, when it was flooded. Today it is a swimming pond.
