Agate With Pyrite Ankerite & Dolomite

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Basalt Quarry, Langenthal, Bad Kreuznach, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany
Size Range:
Cabinet (10-18 cm)
Size:
3 × 14.1 × 10.7 cm
Description

Very special layer agate. I only know of this locality to find this curious set-up of layers. It starts with a pyrite layer, covered by green ankerite, covered by white dolomite, jasper and then comes the agate layer.

This special orange and gray-blue combination is from a find years ago and the material is long gone and nothing similar re-appeared until today. I should know - this is my number one digging-place!
