Description

A short while ago I stumbled over some brown chalcedony vugs from "Schemlitz, Meißen". It took me a while to find out this is a historic place, possibly destroyed in an old time war.

I found only one document, a book from a "historical association", published in 1824 (!) mentioning this village near the famous town of Meißen, known worldwide for it's valuable porcelain.

This locality was a kaolinite pit. It seems this is a very rare sample from an almost unknown locality.
