Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Cruzeiro Mine, São José da Safira, Minas Gerais, Brazil
Size Range:
Small cabinet (7-10 cm)
Size:
9.7 × 6.2 × 4.5 cm
Description

Foitite is a very rare, fibrous variety of tourmaline. This specimen is unusually big, the reddish foitite fibers sitting on top of the dark green elbaite-variety verdelite. The core of the big crystal, however, looks completely black - a schorl? A very very uncommon and rare specimen altogether.
