Azurite & Malachite

ex coll. Kles
Classic Locality

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Lavrion District Mines, Attiki Prefecture, Greece
Size Range:
Cabinet (10-18 cm)
Size:
15 × 12.3 × 4.5 cm
Description

very beautiful specimen with two different kinds of botryoidal azurite - one with very sharp, glossy crystals, the other 'more' botryoidal with micro crystals. Some minor malachite and very little cuprian adamite.
The rust-brown limonite matrix is full of deep vugs, which are filled with dark azurite (azurite appears much lighter on photos). I can't take pictures inside, but it looks terrific in nature.
