Emmelberg, Üdersdorf, Daun, Eifel, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany

Miniature (4.5-7 cm)

5.5 × 3.5 × 1.2 cm
Description

I must confess it's hard for me to think of Eifel minerals as being 'beautiful' - but this one got me. A very exciting little specimen if you take a closer look. What a spectacular paragenesis. Transparent leucite and apatite crystals sit between brown melilite crystals, colorless nepheline needles, black augite and metallic magnetite (in matrix). And I think there could be even more on this small landscape.
