Tsumeb Mine, Otavi Highlands, Namibia

6.20cm
Description

A really beautiful and uncommon specimen. Apple-green cuprian smithsonite grown on a single, heavy cerussite crystal. First time I've seen something like this. The cerussite crystal must have been broken in length before the smithsonite grew on it, because on the backside (pictured) you can see green smithsonite even on the fractured surface. Very old material from theMaucher collection, 19sixties or earlier.
