Description

Schoepite, a rare uranyl-hydroxide was named after Alfred Schoep (1881-1966), Professor of Mineralogy at the University of Ghent, Belgium.

This sample from the Type Locality has a good coverage of bright yellow acicular crystals of schoepite.

It is a sort of pseudomorph because the schoepite is an alteration product of Ianthinite. Some violet-black ianthinite crystals are also present on this specimen.
