Description

Niedermayrite, are very rare cadmium-copper-sulfate was named for Austrian mineralogist Gerhard Niedermayr in 1997.

Only found at three localities worldwide, two small finds in Greece (including at the Type Locality) and one at the underground workings of the Hidden Treasure Mine in Utah, USA.

This small but excellent specimen has many groups of bright green-blue niedermayrite crystals.

Analyzed by SEM/XRD. Ref: Rocks & Minerals 83:1, pp 52-62.
