Description

One of the great German rarities, the very rare calcium-magnesium-vanadate schäferite was named for amateur mineralogist Helmut Schäfer.
This analyzed small specimen comes from the second documented find of this species on old material from the Nickenichite Fumarole at the Nickenicher Sattel.
The specimen has several very small orange crystals of schäferite on matrix.
