Fluorite On Dolomite

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Frohnau, Annaberg-Buchholz, Erzgebirge, Saxony, Germany
Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
6.7 × 6.5 × 3.9 cm
Description

Individual exposed fluorite cubes on dolomite as perimorphose after calcite (pseudomorphose). The fluorites show a light yellow center with multiple thin blue zonings along the edges. This gives the beautiful specimen an interesting green and earthy character. The dolomite perimorphose is unique from the mining area at Frohnau (Erzgebirge, Saxony, Germany). In addition one should mention that the piece comes from a unique fluorite find of this locality (alter Bäuerin Schacht, Bierschnabelsohle, Bäuerin Stehender): No fluorite was found there before.
