Description

This fantastic piece comes from my new find at Weisseck in summer 2022. The name of this Cleft is "Knappenloch". The fluorite is etched all around with good luster and nice structures grown on a finely crystallized quartz slab. The crystal structure is still preserved in the upper area. In the crystal area there are two distinctive features observed from this new find: the dark violet spots, most likely from radioactive radiation, and bright individual ingrown cockscomb barites in the surface of the fluorite. With backlight, the fluorite shows a beautiful intense purple color in the upper area and inky blue to cyan on the bottom. The piece is etched or crystallized all around - no new fresh damage. First, second, fourth and fifth photo with lower LED backlit.
