Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Weißeck Area, Murwinkel, Lungau, Salzburg, Austria
Class:
Crystal Group/Cluster
Size Range:
Small cabinet (7-10 cm)
Size:
7 × 5 × 3.7 cm
Description

A very nice piece from the new cleft from Weisseck called “Knappenloch”: Despite its intense colors, this fluorite is very transparent - almost glassy. The crystals exhibit a beautiful intense purple color on the outside and an intense blue to cyan color on the inside. This color build-up causes the fluorite to change color as the piece is moved. The fluorite cube measures up to 4.5 cm edge length. The crystal surfaces show a fine square texture with a silky luster due to water etching. The crystal growth is very plastic and three-dimensional. There are isolated bright intergrown cockscomb barites crystals beneath on one surface of the fluorite - one of the special features of this cleft! The back is lightly etched or healed all around - there are no fresh fractures. First, second, fourth and fifth photo with lower LED backlit. This piece is more colorful and much more plastic than the well-known pieces from Summit Cleft and raises the bar for good fluorite from Weisseck! Unfortunately it is almost impossible to show the exceptional quality on the photos. Please also watch the video to see the change in the play of colors of the fluorite.
