Fluorite On Dolomite

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Frohnau, Annaberg-Buchholz, Erzgebirge, Saxony, Germany
Class:
Crystal Group/Cluster
Size Range:
Small cabinet (7-10 cm)
Size:
8 × 4.7 × 3.5 cm
Description

Individual exposed fluorite cubes on dolomite as perimorphose after calcite (pseudomorphose). The fluorites show a light yellow center with multiple thin blue zonings along the edges. This gives the beautiful specimen an interesting green-brown and earthy character. The dolomite perimorphose is unique from the mining area at Frohnau (Erzgebirge, Saxony, Germany). In addition one should mention that the piece comes from a unique fluorite find of this locality (alter Bäuerin Schacht, Bierschnabelsohle, Bäuerin Stehender): No fluorite was found there before. The wonderful piece should be highly ranked because of its rarity!
