Weißeck Area, Murwinkel, Lungau, Salzburg, Austria

Single Crystal

Small miniature (3-4.5 cm)
Size:
3.7 × 2.3 × 1.5 cm
Description

I found a lot of different varieties of fluorites in the Ice Cleft of Weisseck Mountain. What is special about this locality is that within a few centimeters the shape and color of the fluorite can change completely. Also, it happens very often that small pockets contain only two or three beautiful pieces of one variety of fluorite.

This piece is just lovely! The fluorite shows a glossy surface with a very good square texture. The outer layer is very clear and bright blue to cyan. In the middle of the crystal there is an intense purple zoning and the center shows a slightly darker purple color. First and third photo with LED light as backlit. The backside is healed. An undamaged floater-piece of brilliant aesthetics and quality! I found this specimen in August 2015.
